lisalborm This is just sexy music. I want this band to make a hundred cds so I can just have a whole jazzy day. Their youthful exuberance comes through in every track. And good god, that bass. Garb you a couple of bottles of wine and get ready to dance across the floor. Favorite track: Baudelaire.

Là, tout n’est qu’ordre et beauté.

The snow started falling on Friday as we rounded Indianapolis for Champaigne Illinois to record with Josh Estock and Jon Pines. We're not sure the snow stopped all weekend. Every time we stepped outside, there seemed to be more, blanketing the whole city. We didn't yet know that this would be the story all winter (and spring), so at the time, within the first storm, it felt magical. Even as we pushed cars out of the growing snowbanks to make coffee and pho runs, we were thankful for being trapped in the studio by the drifts and the cold where we were able to focus on the mood and texture of each track.

After two years of feeling so disconnected from all of you, we're very happy to finally release these songs to you, our loyal listeners. These are songs about our bones. The thoughts that keep us up at night. The passions we couldn't keep quiet.

Track Name: The Figure of the Dance
Two lovers, entangled
Spin oh-so-contrarily,
And the spaces between the steps
Mean more than the arching of feet.

Lips parted, unspeaking.
Words would only betray the hush,
And the figure of the modern dance
Means nothing to no one but us.

You could say that it's foolish or more
To measure the substance of love
And undress it's form.
But just when you think it might grow
To hold it at arm's length just so
And resist the tension.

O, hope those moments do no harm
And pray
That those steps take you safely home once more
In each other's arms.
Track Name: Little Bird
All dizzy the afternoon,
A little bird wove symbols
Above the remains of the field.
Now lines, now plummeting rings,
Each to me indecipherable
Save their liberty from the frozen spring.
Who are you? And
Do you know the name of anything?
How can you spin so free
With the weight of such awful ancestry?
For those once living now dust
Through the afternoons that shaped your bones –
Is the beauty of lines enough?
Track Name: Archæologies
As Theseus said to those Greek guys
“You whom the Sybil advise
Know yourself, be yourself
And if that fails, just be swell
Just be swell”

It's a wonderful place to go
Where we used to dream
Where old friends riddle our memory
No one demands we grow digging bones down below
Such a wonderful place to go

Singing a song of ourself
And our great mysteries
Singing up paleo-ontologies
Our rivals don't dare delve where our stories were smelt
Singing a song of ourself

With our back turned to the chorus
We can all be a brontosaurus
We're a little bit true, a little bit fiction
Thrown a bone of self-contradiction

The ghost in our machine says
We fashion our own dreams
To become thundering lizard-brained kings and queens
Track Name: Some of These Days
Some of these days
You're gonna miss me honey
Some of these days
You're gonna feel so lonely
You'll miss my loving
You'll miss my kissing
O Darling, when you go away
You'll feel so lonely
For me only
And you know baby,
When you've had your little way
And when you leave me
I'll know you'll grieve me
O Darling, when you go away
